High Profile has partnered with our client to find a highly organized and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our clients family office. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance for over 100 entities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a Controller, with a strong focus on internal controls and business processes.
The Controller will manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial statement preparation. They will implement and maintain proper internal controls and segregation of duties within the accounting system and department. This role involves establishing accounting policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency of accounting processes while incorporating best practices. The Controller will conduct thorough reviews of schedules and documentation prepared by the accounting staff for all entities and prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to family members and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accuracy. They will also conduct comprehensive reviews of complex transactions to ensure proper documentation and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Additional responsibilities include assisting and/or overseeing all financial operations of the family office, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. The Controller will collaborate with external auditors and the Investment Controller for all audited companies, assist with special projects and initiatives, and manage and mentor a small accounting team, providing guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment. Maintaining confidentiality for all corporate, stakeholder, personnel, and research matters is an essential part of the role.

Job Requirements

  • CPA with 10+ years of accounting experience, last 5+  years spent in a managerial capacity
  • Must have experience implementing internal controls and process improvements
  • Must have experience with ERP accounting systems; implementation experience a plus
  • Must possess strong software skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as this position will be expected to communicate effectively with staff, leadership, family members and external vendors
