Job Description

Director of HR Strategy & Operations
Hybrid | University Park | 25% travel

High Profile has partnered with our client to identify a Director of HR Strategy & Operations to support a growing middle-market Private Equity platform and its portfolio companies across Dallas and California. Prior experience operating within a Private Equity firm is required, as this role is critical to driving value and scalability across the portfolio.

This is a highly visible, hands-on individual contributor role supporting both the investment team and portfolio company leadership. The Managing Partner is energetic, decisive, and deeply engaged — this leader must be comfortable operating strategically while also rolling up their sleeves to manage the "heavy lifting" across recruiting, performance management, benefits, and payroll. Success in this role requires a proactive communicator who keeps stakeholders closely informed through consistent updates and a relentless focus on execution.

Position Overview

This role operates in two capacities:

1) Portfolio Company HR Leadership (approx. 80%)

  • Lead HR diligence for new acquisitions
  • Drive 180-day HR deployment plans post-close
  • Build or rebuild HR infrastructure (policies, HRIS, performance systems, org design)
  • Support recruitment of senior leadership (CEO, CFO, COO, VP-level)
  • Serve as interim HR leader when needed
  • Guide integration efforts during acquisitions
  • Share HR best practices across portfolio companies

2) Management Company HR Oversight (approx. 20%)

  • Oversee payroll, benefits, HRIS, and compliance systems
  • Maintain employment agreements and review processes
  • Ensure multi-state compliance (strong preference for California knowledge)
  • Provide recruitment oversight and executive-level HR guidance

Total Rewards

Comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision (effective first of the month following hire)
    • 2 PPO plans + High Deductible Plan (HSA 100% company funded)
  • 100% employer-paid: Life, Supplemental, Short & Long-Term Disability
  • 401(k) with 4% match after 90 days
  • Profit sharing plan

This is an opportunity to influence leadership teams, build scalable HR infrastructure, and play a strategic role in value creation across a Private Equity portfolio.

Qualified candidates with direct Private Equity portfolio HR experience are encouraged to apply.

  • Demonstrated executive-level recruiting experience
  • Strong HRIS/payroll systems experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and/or SHRM-SCP/SPHR preferred

Ideal Profile
  • Strategic thinker who is also operationally hands-on
  • Comfortable working closely with engaged executive leadership
  • Strong communicator who provides proactive updates
  • Adaptable, organized, and execution-oriented
  • Confident operating both at the board level and in the weeds
