Payroll Specialist
Job Description
High Profile has partnered with our client to find a Payroll Specialist for a long-term contract assignment, who will manage and oversee payroll processes for a diverse workforce of over 500 employees. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and validating employee information essential for bi-monthly payroll processing. This role includes the processing of manual checks for new hires, terminations, and payroll adjustments, ensuring compliance with company policies and client billing requirements.
The ideal candidate will coordinate the timely processing of employee timesheets, verifying their accuracy and securing the necessary approvals. They will handle involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments and maintain accurate payroll mappings for accounting journal entries. Additionally, the Payroll Specialist will resolve outstanding correspondence from taxing jurisdictions and obtain the required federal, state, and city tax registrations.
This position involves coordinating funding for payroll, 401(k), and tax payments, as well as uploading 401(k) deduction and employer matching information to the 401(k) provider. The Payroll Specialist will also research state, federal, and international tax laws as they relate to payroll earnings and deductions, ensuring that withholdings and deductions are calculated accurately.
Responsibilities include performing monthly, quarterly, and yearly reconciliations, managing federal, state, and local tax filings, and processing year-end W-2 forms. The Payroll Specialist will provide audit support as needed and work closely with the Human Resources department to enhance the flow of employee personal, payroll, tax, and benefit information. The role also requires evaluating system processes to recommend improvements for the accuracy and timeliness of payroll data. Furthermore, the Payroll Specialist will produce various reports as requested by executive management.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years payroll experience
- International payroll experience a plus
- UKG experience required
- Experience processing payroll for 200+ employees
- Experience with 3rd party payroll systems (i.e., ADP and/or Ceridian)
- Ultipro and Cognos experience a plus
- Certified payroll professional preferred
- Must be willing to work an in-office role based in downtown Dallas
